Objectives

The objective of this training is to present a short course on renewable source integration studies.

This course covers the following topics:

-       Wind park and Photovoltaic park modeling in EMT-type tools

-       Renewable energy integration studies:

o   Load-flow and steady-state

o   Harmonic analysis

o   Transformer energization

o   Temporary overvoltages

o   Stability analysis

o   Sub-synchronous Control Interaction (SSCI)

The EMTP software is used for all simulations and illustration examples. Practical test cases are provided to illustrate the various concepts.
If you are not an EMTP user, a Get started session has been planned on April 16th at the same place. This training will be free of charge for the attendees of the Renewable Energy training.

Intended audience

This course is intended for engineers, researchers, operators and maintenance personnel using simulation software in general. It provides an up-to-date technical expertise on renewable energy integration projects.

Training structure

The duration is 2 days.
The training starts at 9 am and ends at 5:00 pm every day.
Lunch breaks (included in the course fee) are from noon to 1:00 pm.
 

Instructors:

Mr. Henry GRAS

Henry Gras received the M.A.Sc. degree from Polytechnique Montréal, Canada in 2014. Since then, he has been working as a research associate at Polytechnique Montréal where he is engaged in research and development activities related to time-domain simulation of power systems.
He is also currently working at PGSTech as a developer of the ElectroMagnetic Transient Program (EMTP).

 

 

IEEE Continuing Education Units (CEUs)

Our trainings are endorsed by the IEEE Continuing Education Program, this guarantees both quality of the technical content of learning materials as well as adherence to IEEE’s strict criteria for educational excellence. Our programs have passed this strict process and our trainees will be entitled to IEEE Continuing Education Units (CEUs), recognized as the standard of excellence for continuing education programs in IEEE’s fields of interest. Furthermore, certificates` fees will be entirely covered by EMTP-RV.

Participants will have to pay 100% in advance before the course.

Advance payment is required by Credit Card (*3% tax will apply on credit card payment) or by Bank wire Transfer.

 

Cancellation can be made according to Powersys’ General Conditions for training:

In case you cannot attend the training after having registered, please contact us as soon as possible at marketing@powersys.fr.
In case of cancellation three weeks or more before the beginning of the training, the participants will not be charged.
In case of cancellation less than three weeks before the beginning of the training, the participants will be charged 50% of the training fees.

Please note that the participants will not be reimbursed of any travel and/or accommodation expenditure in case of cancellation of the training.
We recommend you to make your travel arrangements once the training is confirmed by email.
